Crispy Fried TEMPEH

Crispy fried tempeh is the absolute best! Tempeh or tempe (Indonesian way to say) is in my blood. Originally comes from Indonesia, and Java to be more specific, it’s definitely one of my favorite plant-based food. You just need to know the trick to make it delicious and you will love them! This tasty and crispy dish is perfect to accompany any cereal dish you have or mix inside some of your favorite vegan recipes.

  • 225 gr natural tempeh (thinly large sliced)
  • 1 clove garlic (grated)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 50 ml water
  • Extra virgin olive oil or any seeds oil
  • Mix the garlic, salt, and water in a bowl. Whisk well.
  • Add in the sliced tempeh one by one, and make sure they are coated evenly with the marination spice.
  • Leave them to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and put in the tempeh, flip once they start to be golden brown. Pat them dry with a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.
  • As a healthier choice, you can use an air fryer instead of frying them with oil. Just remember, the result is that the tempeh will be way drier than frying with oil.
  • Best to serve them hot as a side dish.
