Follow where the MONEY flows and discover the truth

In the past, meat could only be afforded only by wealthy people, it was food for the rich or just for special occasions. Now, everything has changed.

Today, a dollar buys three times ground beef compared to vegetables that once did. Is it the real cost? because if it is, it’s really too good to be true!

It’s not a secret, it’s just hidden

The modern animal farm industry has done a “great job” in maximizing production numbers with the minimum operation cost. The high density, hyper-confinement methods, a faster production speed, and automated processes have highly reduced production costs and labor costs. Consolidation and increased volumes allow producers to enjoy economics of scale.

This short video by MinuteEarth, explains the real costs of animal foods.

Truth hurts, ouch!

The low retail prices obscure a significant, measurable set of external costs that make the real costs to the society much higher.

If we include all the external costs, each $1 in retail sales of animal foods generates about $1.70 of external costs. A $10 steak actually costs about $27, or a $3 carton of milk is roughly around $8.

We pay them to get rich, they make us pay to get sick

The animal foods industry is the only part that gets the benefit of this system because while they get all the favors and subsidies from the government, we are the ones who must pay all the prices and the consequences.

Through taxes we pay the health care cost which mostly caused by sickness comes from eating animal foods. We also pay the environmental cost for the damages caused by the farm factory; the deforestation, manure and waste management, and the bycatch as well as the increasing number of dead zones in the ocean caused by the unsustainable fishing industry.

World hunger is one of the social consequences of the animal foods industry. 6 pounds of plant protein are used to feed animals for each pound of animal protein. There are more cereals that go for livestock than to feed people. Everyone is eventually paying the consequences and all the external costs of animal foods even if they are vegans or don’t eat meat.

Rebel for THE ANIMALS

Did you know that more farmed animals are slaughtered in a week than the total number of people killed in all wars along human history?

Rebel for OUR PLANET

Animal agriculture causes deforestation and disturbs wildlife, it’s time to act by going plant-based to fight climate change.
